Lenny

Lenny has been with us for several years now, patiently waiting for the right, experienced home to come forward. He is a wonderful dog with huge potential, but he needs a confident, capable handler who can offer him the guidance and stability he needs to thrive. Lenny can be unsure around strangers and will require slow, sensible introductions. If he feels uncertain or threatened, he may react defensively, so it’s important his handler can read his signals and advocate for him. He responds well to reward-based training and does not cope with conflict or negative handling. We are looking for an adult-only home for Lenny, with no visiting children. He is clean in the house, non-destructive, and can be left alone for several hours once settled. Lenny is extremely bright and very food motivated, which makes training enjoyable and rewarding. He does best with routine and structure — once he understands what is expected of him, he is well mannered and eager to please. He is selective with other dogs and tends to prefer female dogs, but we feel he would be happiest as the only dog in the home. He cannot live with cats. Lenny can become excited and frustrated quickly, so training and interactions should be kept short, calm, and positive, with plenty of reinforcement. He needs a home with space, ideally a large secure garden, and calm, large-breed-experienced owners who are committed to helping him build confidence and make good choices. Lenny is one of our long-stay dogs and truly one of the forgotten ones. With the right person, he has the potential to be an incredible companion. Part-time or full-time foster homes will also be considered.
